Where to Go:
Cape Kiwanda Fat Bike Route
Try your hand at cycling on a fat tire bike right on the beach in Pacific City. Start on the sand at Cape Kiwanda and head in either direction. You’ll pass sites such as the bridge over the Nestucca River and Bob Straub State Park, where the crowds and sounds fade away and it may just be you, your bike, and the peaceful sounds of the ocean. To head north from Cape Kiwanda, you’ll have to first scale and descend the massive dune that blocks your path. If you’re up for the challenge, continue on the other side toward the town of Tierra del Mar and Sand Lake before making the return trip. Those who are really feeling ambitious may want to take on the 15-mile route between Cape Lookout and Pacific City.
