Come see the beautiful Oregon coastline, enjoy the rugged dunes and sea wildlife, birds, deer, elk, seals and occasionally a whale–all on horseback! Even if you think you’re not into horseback riding–or have never been on a horse before–horseback riding on the beach is something you won’t want to miss. Experienced guides and well-kept horses keep you safe as you journey along the ocean’s edge, across long stretches of beach, and over sandy dunes as fresh sea breezes wisp in and surround you. In fact, if you’ve ever dreamed of riding off into the sunset along the ocean, the stunning Pacific Coast is just the place to do so. The sounds of the waves and the brilliant display of color in the sky is even more magical when viewed during a leisurely horseback ride along the shoreline. For the less adventurous, pony rides are also available at the Pacific City stable. Pacific City Oregon Horseback riding is available seasonally.
Pacific City Horseback Riding
+ Green Acres & Trail Rides
This is Pacific City’s top outfitter for enjoying horseback rides along the coast. Enjoy professional guided horseback rides from Bob Straub State Park. Rides begin where you enter the beach with no streets to cross. All levels of skill are welcome; even children can be tethered to an experienced guide.
Their one-hour rides offer scenic views along the coastline and loop up into the dunes, providing scenic views. Experienced riders can consider the two-hour ride that goes a bit further toward the Nestucca River and includes steeper sections of dunes, adding an exciting thrill. Green Acres even helps plan custom rides for special occasions such as proposals and other events, and also offers private tours. Ride times and availability vary by season.
+ Crazy A’s Horse Hotel
If you have your own horses that you’ll be riding while in Pacific City and are looking for somewhere to board, Crazy A’s Horse Hotel offers overnight boarding facilities, which includes shavings, daily manure removal, and feedings. With your own horses, you’ll have freedom to explore some of the best areas for horseback riding in Pacific City, such as Bob Straub State Park, Cape Kiwanda, Sand Lake, and Mount Hebo, as well as the miles of trails onsite.
More Things to Do
In addition to Pacific City horseback riding along the scenic coastline, there are many other ways to experience the natural beauty of Pacific City. Popular water activities include surfing, kayaking, ocean fishing, river fishing, and crabbing. And with convenient options for rentals and guides, it’s easy to delve into these activities even without prior experience. If exploring on land is more your speed, consider venturing down the coastline aboard a fat tire bike, which boasts 4-inch-wide tires that are perfectly engineered for riding on the sand. Whether you bring lots of experience or just a sense of adventure, you’ll quickly discover the joy in exploring the outdoor playground of Pacific City!
