Bob Straub Park History
Covering 484 acres of land, Bob Straub State Park has long been a place where impressive terrain meets the exploration needs of visitors. The park was named for Governor Robert W. Straub of Oregon in 1987 but before that time, it was known as Nestucca Spit State Park. Straub was a supporter of Oregon Beach Law and promoted natural resource conservation throughout his time in office. Today, the park still encompasses the Nestucca Sand Spit and enjoys a location hugged by the Nestucca River on the east and the Pacific Ocean on the west side.
Making the Most of Your Visit
While Bob Straub State Park showcases some sensational terrain and view, it also has those amenities that make for a convenient visit. Guests to the park will find parking simple and beach access complete with restrooms on-site. If you happen to be bringing a horse trailer in to make the most of time on the trails, you’ll want to be sure to park in the county parking lot. This sits adjacent to the car and truck parking section and comes with a $4 fee. Many visitors to Bob Straub Park take time to stroll along both the beach and explore the sand spit. Additionally, the park is a welcoming place for those looking to enjoy a picnic, spend an afternoon fishing, or hike the trails.

Reviews
“We love it here. We try to walk all the way along the beach to the nestucca outlet at least once when we visit. Whilst the weather today was misty, windy and grey, we had a nature show that was a treat… Seals coming up close, bald eagle, heron and lots of sandpipers to look at.”
“Tons of loops, Rivers, Hills, and a Sandy trail through a lush, green forest make up 1/2 of a giant 5ish mile loop. The other half – aaaaallllll sand. Much like florence with dunes on one half, much like the deep coastal range of Gold Beach on the other. Options, including just sand and sea.”
“Beautiful place to get lost in Pacific City. Careful of the sudden tides and you might want to wear your mud boots. Such an awesome place.”
